After saying sayonara to Surya, Arrow was basking in a moment of unity. Still feeling some residual boardroom heat, James took control as project manager. "This is my moment to step up and win, or to lose and go home," said James. The rest of Arrow definitely needed a win too, especially Nicole who was nearly blown out of her backyard shower by the gusty California winds. The gale wasn't enough to dissipate Nicole's good mood, however, since the teams were meeting Mr. Trump on the set of NBC's Passions, one of Nicole's favorite daytime soaps. Once there, the teams were assigned to create cliffhanger webisodes, miniature soap operas for the Internet aimed to promote Soft Scrub's new Deep Foaming Cleanser. Nicole's love of soap operas helped propel Arrow. She and Tim were swiftly typecast as the romantic leads in Arrow's webisode scenario: She reveals that she's landed a big job in NYC just as he's about to pop the question in the cleanest bathroom in the world. Tim called it "massively awkward" having to propose on camera when he and Nicole's real life relationship is in its early stages. Still, romantic tension didn't disrupt the team. James noted that "Nicole's experience watching all those soap operas paid off" as she was familiar with the look and feel of the genre. In post-production, Tim took over the editing, becoming a nit-picking perfectionist, which annoyed his teammates slightly but helped make the best of the team's footage. Meanwhile, Kinetic hit the ground stumbling. When PM Kristine tried to put Muna behind the camera to take advantage of the Jamaican attorney's detail-oriented mind, Muna objected, preferring an onscreen role. Kristine ultimately acquiesced, putting Muna in the role of a meddling housewife and casting Heidi as the slutty neighbor caught wiping away evidence of her own infidelity. As Kristine and Angela gathered props, Heidi and Muna started shooting scenes. When Kristine returned, she took over the directing, but failed to notice that Muna's mile-a-minute delivery coupled with her accent made much of the dialogue unintelligible. As a result, many scenes were unusable, causing Kinetic to improvise and make drastic cuts during editing. Could their soapy serial be stopped from going straight down the drain? When it came time for the Soft Scrub execs to rate the teams' 45-second soap operas, they felt Arrow's webisode had excellent brand integration but a not-so-great cliffhanger. Kinetic created a better drama, but their dialogue was unclear and the product was nearly non-existent in their webisode. The final verdict? Arrow was victorious. Their reward was a quick flight up to Sacramento to dine with the Governator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Korean immigrant James felt a special "American Dream" bond with the Austrian immigrant who had traded up from body builder to Hollywood star to big-time politico. Arnold told Arrow his secret to success: "I never listened to, 'It can't be done.'" While Arrow lounged and lunched with the former movie muscleman, Kinetic faced the challenge of pumping up for their boardroom meeting with Mr. Trump. Muna read from the Bible to prepare for the day of boardroom reckoning, while Kristine flipped through a book by Trump. "I've yet to see God sitting in the boardroom," she cracked. |
